Book a Band or DJ?
Both a band and DJ can provide great entertainment. Is one better than the other? We can’t pick a side on this debate. Each option has pros and cons. Just like bands, DJ’s have many different skill levels and production value. Since we are a DJ service, some pros are listed below. Hopefully these will help you decide on picking a New Orleans DJ for your event.
Entertainment: DJs can provide a festive atmosphere and keep the crowd entertained throughout the event. They can also act as the emcee for announcements.
Music: Music can be curated to the expected audience. Song choices are more than a band can do. Bands will have limitations with songs in their library.
Budget: DJs are often cheaper than a medium / large band.
Breaks: Unlike most bands, the DJ does not break during a standard 3-5 hour event. This allows the party to continuously flow. Events greater than 5 hours may require some type of break.
Crowd reading: Having a live DJ read the crowd is very important. If the order of songs is on an auto playlist, the timing could be off. With a live DJ, song orders change with feedback from crowd reactions. An adept New Orleans DJ can read the crowd and adjust the music accordingly.
